General Weather Pattern Looking Favorable for Snow

Here is a big picture look at what is happening out there, as of today.

Keep in mind that when looking more than 5-7 days out, the best indicator of general trends is the Jet stream.

Long range jet stream models have the general pattern shifting NW over the next 7-10 days or so.  This bodes well for storms (with suitable temperatures) to track into the region over the next few weeks.

The next chance of snow will be this coming weekend, likely on Sunday/Monday.   Then the jet stream sets up in NW flow pattern over the Gulf of Alaska early next week – if this materializes, the likely hood of early season snow is good.

Below is an Isotach (jet stream) model for early next week.  Yellow is the strongest winds of the northern jet.

Think Snow.
