MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0900 Thursday

The Snapshot:  Light snow today, dry tomorrow, rain on Saturday, mixed rain and snow on Sunday.   More winterish storms on the way next week.

The Science:  The snow currently falling will taper off this afternoon as an upper-level ridge builds over the region.   Not much happening tomorrow as the high-pressure ridge drifts east.  A warm front will make landfall tomorrow bringing higher freezing levels (+-7000’) and rain to the mountains early Saturday morning.     

Long Range:  Freezing levels drops to +-4000’ on Sunday adding some snow to the mix.  (sound familiar?)    There will be good chance of a few more inches of snow Sunday night into Monday.  Another frontal system with potential significant snow is taking shape for the middle of next week.  This is the system to watch.

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = >.10  Snow = 0

Trend and Timing:
The snow will end this afternoon with just light showers possible tonight. Tomorrow will be mostly dry.

Low: 32  High: 45

Freezing level: 4000’ - 6000.'

Trends and Timing:
Freezing level will slowly rise during the next few days reaching +-7000’ by Saturday.   Surface temperature could touch 50of  tomorrow with the aid of some sun breaks.

Ridge Top: 5-10 WNW   

Trend and Timing:
Light westerly surface winds with gusty winds along the ridge tops today.  Winds shift southerly tomorrow.
