MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST



Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast

The Snapshot:  Mixed snow and rain is expected today.  A drying trend begins tomorrow with clear and dry weather finishing out the week.

Precipitation:  Mixed rain and snow falling

Sky: Dark and overcast
Radar: Snow (4500’) and rain falling along the west slopes.

The Forecast:  Mixed snow and rain will begin to diminish tomorrow with a drying trend setting in on Wednesday.  Freezing levels will settle around 4500’ today and slowly rise as the week progresses.  

Long Range: Wednesday through Friday will be mostly dry with daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 30’s.  A prolonged dry period lasting through the weekend is likely.
  
The Science:  Unstable NW flow streaming into the PNW is the driver for this steady stream of moisture.  A weak low pressure system, working its way down from the interior north, is the mechanism for the cooler air to mixing in.   

The high pressure ridge moving up the western coast will begin to dry up and stabilize the atmosphere tomorrow.  Models have the barometric pressure rising to1031mb’s by Thursday morning with freezing levels pushing above 5000’.
