Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Friday, November 9th
The Snapshot: Cloudy with light rain and snow today. Dry and clearing Saturday.
Current Observations:
Precipitation: No measurable precipitation has occurred in the past 24 hours.
Pass temperature: 32 in the base area, 38 on the upper mountain.
Winds: Light from the west
Barometer: 1021mb’s and falling
Sky: Cloudy
Radar: Shows rain in the Puget Sound and northern interior.
Long Range: The high pressure is still slated to rebound over the weekend, diverting all Pacific storms well north of our area, or just stopping them in their tracks. While it will be sunny and warm west of the crest, easterly flow through the passes with colder air in place in the Columbia Basin will bring a developing inversion Sunday and Monday. Free air freezing levels reach 10k' by Monday, with local pass level temps likely remaining near freezing. At least that might preserve the snow we have.
The Science: Friday's cold front is generally unimpressive. Light snow and rain will fall midday with frontal passage, rain and snow will remain possible to likely during the afternoon. Precipitation should end late this afternoon with a cooler airmass and dry north/northwest flow in place.
